I am an aspiring innovator working to build design engineering skills that will equip me to address society’s most critical challenges. Like many young engineers, I started with Legos, but quickly grew to designing electric vehicles as a college undergraduate. As a senior, I served as the President of the Duke Eco-marathon Team - a group that spends each year designing and manufacturing an ultra-efficient electric vehicle from the ground up.

My interest in renewable energy followed through to the professional world where I spent the past two years working on electric vehicles as a member of the Engineering Business Operations Team at Tesla Motors. Although this role allowed me to pursue impactful and environmentally conscious work, I soon found that it lacked the elements of design engineering that had served as intrinsic motivators throughout my life. This led me to dive back into the mechanical engineering field on an introspective mission to develop my aspirations as an engineer.

I entered UC Berkeley’s Masters of Engineering (M.Eng.) program in the Fall of 2016, majoring in mechanical engineering with a focus in product design. I have focused my educational efforts on honing skills in human-centered design, electro-mechanical device design, and rapid prototyping - with the intention of applying them to real world challenges as a design engineer in the years to come.
